Much was lost when mankind turned his back on The Mother. Not only did he shun the grace and abundance of nature, he relegated the finer points of human expression, i.e. compassion, social justice, and nurturing, to millennia of outer darkness.
The result is a world run amok. Our environment teeters on the brink of ruin. Despots lay waste to everyone and everything that impede their greed. World religions practice violent oppression of women and total disregard for children, all in the name of their Father/God to whom we are nothing but groveling sinners… as if a perfect being would wallow in such pettiness.
No wonder we seem doomed to perpetual struggle and obligatory war: our self-image as a species allows little else. It doesn’t help that the corporate media feeds us an endless stream of ever more tawdry common denominators, thereby furthering the spiritual dumbing-down of humanity.
We must rouse from our collective stupor and embrace this opportunity to reclaim our lost human magnificence. We must proactively choose and act in support of the world we wish to create, rather than knee-jerk to hegemonic fears that serve our downfall. It is time for new leaders and new archetypes — ones that reflect the best in us, without compromise.
That is why I write “she-ro” journeys for the woman’s soul. I write modern allegories to re-forge our primal bond with Earth — to honor our only home. I write to inspire the courage and inspiration to reclaim the power and wisdom that only women wield. Women birth the world, and it’s time for us to birth a world in which all of life is sacred, the human spirit is noble, and compassion is humanity’s highest expression.
